The home of great coffee, pizza, leather and packed with history and culture, Italy is a must visit destination for every adventurous traveller!
Rome has so much to offer in terms of history and culture given it's location to the Vatican. No European tour would be complete without a photo in
Pisa in front of the leaning tower.
Pompei should not be dismissed easily and make the effort to be shown around by a local guide to explain the history. If you need a touch of retail therapy then
Milan and
Florence are just two destination you won't want to miss, however you may want to ensure that your credit card has been topped up because you'll need it.
Of all the destinations in Italy,
Venice immediately conjures in one's mind images of gondola's and renaissance. If you are lucky enough to time it right, the atmosphere at the Venice Carnivale is simply amazing with beautifully decorated men and women in their venician costumes. If you love an adventure you are going to love Venice as the streets quickly become a maze, especially after a few bottles of Vino! If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of Venice you should take a train to nearby
Verona. A remarkable destination that is home to Romeo and Juilet (don't forget to touch Juilet's breast for good luck). Whilst often overlooked by the hoards of travellers who frequent Italy, Verona has an irresistible charm about it and is worthy of a stay longer than just one day. Even in winter, the city has aurora that makes you feel as though you could return again and again and never be disappointed. A short drive from Verona is
Lake Garda an absolutely amazing setting that you'll want a couple of hours to take in.
For those travellers who are looking for a unique winter skiing/snowboarding adventure be sure to consider
Livigno. Situated in the Northern part of Italy, Livigno has an awesome scene for adventurous travellers and the accommodation standards were high in comparison to other alternatives in Europe. A train can be caught from Milan most of the way, however a bus service is required for the last couple of hours. If you are travelling in a small group consider hiring a car but you'll quickly learn why Italians have the reputation they do!
