Every South America Overland tour should starts with an Amazon jungle experience as we do, before relaxing in the hot springs of Baños. The beautiful Ecuador city of Cuenca is next, famous for being the home of the Panama hat. Next stop is the beaches of Northern Peru, for some chill out time, sun and sandy beaches. Don’t forget to check out the Sea horse breading aquariums while you are here. Heading further south into the heart of the Sutura desert we explore the ancient pre-Inca historical sites of Chan Chan before making our way south to the Peru capital, Lima.
Departing Lima your South American Overland adventure explores the ancient mysteries of Peru, including the Ballestas Islands, Nazca Lines, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon before we stop at Cuzco and hike the Inca Trail to the legendary city of Machu Picchu. Next on this amazing journey is a visit to Lake Titicaca, where we call at it’s famous floating islands before we overnight with local families. Into La Paz the highest capital city in the world from where we visit the colonial town of Potosi, and an optional mine tour before continuing into the heart of the Bolivian Altiplano to Uyuni and the Salt flats beyond. Further south we pass through the Humahuaca Canyon to Salta in Argentina. We visit the Valley of the Moon and take a couple of days off in Mendoza, where we can horse riding, hike or enjoy the popular local custom of wine tasting. We cross the Andes into Chile and carry onto the capital, Santiago and tour end.
